Research Australia collects your messages during the "Thank You" Day campaign. At the end of the "Thank You" Day celebrations we sort the messages and send them to the relevant researchers.
- The total number of "Thank You" registrations is sent to all researchers.
- Personal "Thank You" messages are sent where possible to researchers working in the nominated areas of health research.
- Messages written to a specific organisation will be sent to researchers at that organisation.
"Thank You" messages sent to the "Thank You" Day website may be used in a de-identified form as part of Research Australia's activities.
An important part of "Thank You" Day is to make our decision-makers and community leaders understand how important health and medical research is to Australians. Your message may be used to help us promote the difference health and medical research makes to people's lives. No personal information will be disclosed.
With Delta Goodrem as "Thank You" Day's Ambassador in 2005, more than 450,000 'hero-grams' were generated and distributed to the research community to thank them for their role in improving quality of life and saving lives. A sample of the messages was presented to the Prime Minister just prior to the announcement of the largest ever funding increase for research in the 2006 Federal Budget.
